2021 PNGA Lamey Cup Canceled

The Pacific Northwest Golf Association alongside our Member Associations have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely with respect to travel considerations including the status of the U.S./Canadian border, flight restrictions/availability, as well as quarantine and vaccination policies.

Executive Directors and Championship staff had a conference call to discuss the current situation as well as concerns for our players and staff in regards to international travel, health and safety. Based on the current information available, the difficult but responsible decision was made unanimously to cancel the 2021 PNGA Lamey Cup.

Due to the uncertainty around the actual opening of the border and the mandatory quarantine policies in effect, it would be nearly impossible to conduct this event in May and have each Association’s top players all attend. Out of respect to the host club and the need for players to make travel arrangements in advance, we felt that it was best to make this decision now and not wait any longer.

With the passing in late 2019 of former PNGA President and Cup founder, Dr. Jack Lamey which the championship’s name now bears, we had hoped to celebrate his tremendous contributions to the game and the event he loved so much in 2020 and 2021, but will make sure to do so at the 2022 event.

Announcements about the date and location of the 2022 PNGA Lamey Cup will be made later in the year.

We wish everyone a healthy and happy 2021 season!
