Last year, Karl Smith of Gig Harbor, Wash. won the championship while teaming with Jim McNelis, also of Gig Harbor, running away in the final round for a five shot victory. Smith returns this year to defend his title, but with a new partner in Dave Schrenk of Fox Island, Wash.

Also in the field is the team of Steve Berry of Vancouver, B.C. and Lance MacGregor of Delta, B.C., who won this championship in 2011 and finished sixth last year. Berry is a member of the Golf Hall of Fame of BC. Other past champions competing this year are Al Reinikka of Bellingham, Wash. and Bill Roland of Spring Hill, Fla., who won this title in 1997.

The championship will consist of 54 holes of stroke play, with two-person teams competing in gross and net divisions. Play will be contested on two courses at Sunriver Resort, one round on the Woodlands Course and two rounds on the Meadows Course, using a different format on each day – Four-Ball, Chapman, and Four-Ball.

Players will be coming from all parts of the region – Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, as well as from Hawaii, California and Florida.

Entrants into this championship must be 50 years of age or older by September 17, 2014.
