45th Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur to be held at Salishan
The 45th Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur Championship is being held June 22-26 at Salishan Golf Links in Gleneden Beach, Ore. The championship, which is conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA), consists of the top amateur male golfers in the Pacific Northwest over the age of 40.

This year’s championship begins with 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying on June 22-23 to determine match-play seeding. The top 32 competitors will qualify and compete in the championship flight for single-elimination match play. All matches will be played at scratch, with the final match being held Friday, June 26.
In this year’s full field are several past champions, including defending champion Jeff Strickland of Mill Creek, Wash., who won this championship last year when it was held at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash. In the two qualifying rounds for this year’s championship, Strickland will be paired with 2018 champion Darren Kuhn of Pocatello, Idaho.
Other past champions in the field are Dana Christianson (2016) of Tacoma, Wash.; Nate Hair (2014) of Spokane, Wash.; Bob Burton (2006, 2009) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Ken Wade (2004) of Kennewick, Wash.; and Paul Houvener (2003) of Mill Creek, Wash.
Salishan Golf Links is an amenity of Salishan Resort. Originally opened in 1965, the golf course reopened in June of 2004 after a multimillion-dollar restoration overseen by Oregon golf legend and PGA Tour player Peter Jacobsen and his design firm, Jacobsen-Hardy Golf Design. The Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur is one of 15 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest. It is a 501c3 charitable, international, amateur golf association dedicated to preserving the true spirit of golf by supporting its allied associations, conducting quality championships, and promoting activities beneficial to golfers in the Pacific Northwest.
