Kennedy Swann falls in quarterfinals at U.S. Women’s Amateur

Kennedy Swann of McKenzie Bridge, Ore. was defeated 1-up by Valery Plata of Colombia in this morning’s quarterfinal match of the U.S. Women’s Amateur, being held this week at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.

Swann played well in the match, shooting 3-under-par, but Plata birdied the par-5 15th hole to take a 1-up lead, and Swann could not catch her as the two competitors halved the remaining holes.

Swann was the last remaining Northwest player in the match-play bracket. Ellie Slama of Salem, Ore. lost in the round of 16, and Therese Warner of Kennewick, Wash. lost in the round of 64.
