Kimmel & Plaster to square off in PNGA Junior Boys’ final; Seo & Zelasko meet in Junior Girls’



Tommy Kimmel will face Nate Plaster, both of Spokane, Wash. in the final match of the 65th Pacific Northwest Junior Boys’ Amateur; while Gihoe Seo of Mercer Island, Wash. will meet Jessica Zelasko of Gig Harbor, Wash. in the final of the 64th Pacific Northwest Junior Girls’ Amateur.

Championship Links

The final matches for both championships will each be contested over 36 holes, and held on Friday, August 16. The Junior Boys’ final match will tee off at 7:30am, and the Junior Girls’ final will tee off at 7:39am.

Kimmel, the No. 4 seed in the bracket, earned a spot in tomorrow’s final match by defeating Logan Medcalf of Lynden, Wash. in 19 holes in this afternoon’s semifinal match.

Plaster, the No. 10 seed, had taken down Ian Siebers, the No. 2 seed, 2&1 in this morning’s quarterfinal match, then dispatched Ryan Ho of Redmond, Wash. in the afternoon’s other semifinal match, also 2&1.

Kimmel and Plaster are teammates on the Gonzaga Prep boys’ golf team. Their fathers were roommates in college, and the two finalists have been friends since they were born.

In this afternoon’s semifinal matches of the Junior Girls’, Zelasko, the No. 6 seed, defeated No. 2 seed Suzie Tran, 2&1 to reach the final match. Seo, the No. 12 seed survived her semifinal match with Emily Cadwell, winning in 19 holes.

The two championships are being held concurrently this week at Port Ludlow (Wash.) Golf Club, and are conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). Both championships are considered as counting events for the World Amateur Golf Ranking, as well as AJGA Performance Based Entry.

These championships are two of 15 regional championships conducted annually by the PNGA.
