Many in Contention Heading into PNGA Men’s Senior Team Final Round
Don Orrell of Bend, Ore. and Jason Pigot of Redmond, Ore. fired an impressive five-under-par 66 in the Chapman format portion of the 33rd Pacific Northwest Men’s Senior Team Championship. The Championship is being held at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. and will conclude tomorrow, September 18, 2015.
Orrell and Pigot were able to get through very wet and windy conditions at the resort’s Meadows Course without recording a single bogey. They added five birdies to get themselves into a tie for first place with Pat O’Donnell of Happy Valley, Ore. and Denny Taylor of Gladstone, Ore. at ten-under-par 133.
O’Donnell and Taylor followed a first-round score of six-under-par 66 with a four-under 67 on the par 71 Meadows Course today. Two bogies were their only stumbles, and a birdie on the final hole allowed them to remain locked in the lead with Pigot and Orrell.
The leaders after yesterday’s opening round were Lance Lundy of Pemberton, B.C. and Norm Bradley of Kelowna, B.C., who fall to one behind the leaders at nine-under-par total. In today’s Chapman, they posted a two-under-par 69, carding 14 pars, three birdies, and a bogey.
Defending champions John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. and Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. are also right in the mix at eight-under-par total. They also kept themselves bogey-free and found four birdies to shoot four-under-par 67.
Another team threatening the lead are Rob Matson of Wenatchee, Wash. and Bill Bradley of Issaquah, Wash. who also shot four-under-par 67 today and are just three strokes off the lead at seven-under-par total.
The final round will be played tomorrow again at the Meadows Course and will be in the four-ball format. Play will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
