It's all for the love of the game at Pumpkin Ridge
Built to host major events, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club set its sights high from the beginning and remains one of the purest golf experiences in the Pacific Northwest.
Designed by Robert Cupp, the complex is carved over and through fertile farmlands in the rolling foothills of the Tualatin Mountains, and to this day you will see few homes lining the fairways of its 36 holes – Ghost Creek and the private Witch Hollow.
It is simply golf and occasional wildlife. Lush stands of towering trees frame undulating fairways and manicured greens, creating a stunning tapestry for respite, relaxation, and adventure. And, both lend themselves to walking, allowing players to enjoy the golf courses the way they were meant to be played – for the enjoyment of nature and the love of the game.
Pumpkin Ridge has hosted numerous national events, including Nike Tour Championships, the LPGA’s Safeway Classic, the Korn Ferry Tour’s WinCo Foods Portland Open, six USGA championships, and the 1997 and 2003 U.S. Women’s Opens. And, as everyone knows, in 1996 Tiger Woods launched his career at Pumpkin Ridge, winning his third straight U.S. Amateur Championship by defeating Steve Scott on the 38th hole of the championship match on the Witch Hollow course.
The club has the best team to deliver year-over-year championship playing conditions. The world class team that delivers such an outstanding product is led by Eric Feldhusen, director of agronomy and recipient of the 2021 Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Superintendent of the Year award.
“Our events at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club have always been remarkable,” said Alex Baldwin, president of the Korn Ferry Tour. “That statement is supported by the consistent player feedback we received about the quality of the course, and in particular, the immaculate conditions of the greens.”
On the backdrop of this incredible competition legacy, this summer these two layouts – fierce as they are individually – will be combined into a “composite” layout to present an even greater challenge for the professionals competing in the LIV Golf Invitational Portland, set to take place July 1-3. As the eyes of the global golf world will be descending on Portland for that week, Pumpkin Ridge is poised to take center stage. While Feldhusen is dialing in both courses to be at their most premium levels of conditioning, all other facets of the club and grounds are reaching new heights of facility and service quality.
Beyond its world-class practice facility and exciting dining outlets, there is little to distract golf purists from pursuing their love of the game at Pumpkin Ridge. The club offers a vast array of playing opportunities, whether that be an individual round, local loyalty program Pumpkin Pass, Ghost Creek Membership or Full Golf and Young Executive Membership at Witch Hollow.
A Pumpkin Ridge membership, with its outstanding privileges and amenities that are just as important as the intangible benefits that come with private club membership, affords a deep sense of camaraderie and belonging that is hard to find elsewhere in Pacific Northwest golf.
