Past champions lead PNGA Men’s Senior and Super Senior Team Championships

Looking for their third straight title, the duo of Craig Larson of Tacoma, Wash. and Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. fired a second-round 1-under 71 to take a three shot lead after two rounds of the 36th Pacific Northwest Men’s Senior Team Championship; while defending champions John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. and Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. went low, building upon their lead in the 3rd Men’s Super Championship.

Both championships are being held concurrently at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton Wash, and are being conducted by the PNGA. Today’s second rounds were played on the Gold Mountain Olympic Course.

The final round of both championships will be held on the Gold Mountain Olympic Course.

Entering the day with a four shot lead, Larson and Hanson survived a rocky start going 1-over in their first nine before closing with a 2-under 34 on the back. The duo sits at 11-under overall going into the final round.

Hanson is a seven-time PNGA champion.

In second place and three shots back is the team of Norm Bradley of Kelowna, B.C. and Lance Lundy of Pemberton, B.C. The duo fired a 4-under 68 to cut Hanson and Larson’s lead to three.

In the Super Senior, defending champions Gallacher and Lindbjerg opened the day with a four shot lead, and doubled it by the end of the round. Playing in the Chapman format the duo combined for an impressive 4-under 68, the low round of the day, to move to 11-under overall.

Gallacher and Linbjerg had teamed together to win the Senior Team title in 2014. Gallacher won the 2017 PNGA Super Senior Men’s Amateur.

The team of Larry Daniels of Seattle, Wash. and Michael Jonson of Sammamish, Wash. sit in standalone second place, eight shots back at 3-under overall.

Both championships consist of two-person teams, and will be contested over 54 holes. The first and third round of each championship will be Four-Ball stroke play, while the second round for each championship will be in the Chapman format. Entrants in the Senior championships must be 50 years of age or older prior to start of play in the first round, and 65 years of age for the Super Senior championships.
