Chuck has had a major impact on golf in Canada, the Pacific Northwest and especially in his home province of British Columbia.

His dedication to the game started at a young age when he was a member of Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver. He would go on to spend many years dedicating himself to the betterment of the region’s golf community.

Elected to the PNGA Board of Directors in 1990, and in 1994 he helped inaugurate the PNGA’s Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine. He would serve as a PNGA Director through 2002.

From 1998-2000, Chuck served as PNGA President during a very historic time, helping to shepherd the Association’s 100th birthday celebration, a black tie event that was held at the fabulous Paramount Theater in Seattle.

Chuck was drawn to the PNGA because of its championships, many of which he helped chair and conduct. Whenever the PNGA was in Canada, Chuck was always there to help.

He has also been a Trustee from British Columbia Golf within the Pacific Coast Golf Association, which administers the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, one of North America’s premier competitions. He is also a past president of British Columbia Golf.

Chuck was a founding member of Big Sky Golf Course in Pemberton, B.C. and was a longtime resident of nearby Whistler. Whether he was on the slopes on Whistler Mountain or spending time with grandkids, Chuck’s thoughts were never far from his memories and friends within the PNGA.

He received the PNGA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006, the highest honor bestowed by the Association. He was also honored as the Sport BC Community Sport Hero in 2005.

Chuck’s family will be organizing a celebration of life, and further information will be made available once details are confirmed.
