PNGA Player of the Year Lara Tennant wins California Senior Women’s Amateur

The two-time defending U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, Lara Tennant of Portland, Ore., added another prestigious trophy to her mantle by winning the 42nd California Senior Women’s Amateur title, held Oct 5-7, 2020 at The Ranch Course at Alisal in Solvang, Calif.

The three-time PNGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year (2017, 2018, 2019) shot rounds of 67-76-76, and finished seven shots ahead of second-place finisher Lynne Cowan of Rocklin, Calif.

Tennant’s opening round of 5-under-par 67 was the only round under par shot by any competitor during the three-day championship. Her opening 67 gave her a commanding early lead.

Back-to-back rounds of four-over 76 in the second and final round were more than enough for Tennant

The California Senior Women’s Amateur Championship is designed for the top female amateur golfers, age 50 and above, to compete against each other for the state’s senior championship. Beginning in 2019, the event will be administered by the NCGA and SCGA in partnership with the CWAC Committee. The event was conducted in Southern California for the first time in 2020 and will rotate between NorCal and SoCal venues moving forward.
