PNGA Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championships Being Held at Florence Golf Links



The 55th Pacific Northwest Senior Men’s Amateur Championship and 10th Pacific Northwest Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship are being held June 4-6 at Florence (Ore.) Golf Links.

The two championships are being held concurrently, and are conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). The Senior Men’s Amateur includes men 55 years of age or older while the Super Senior Men’s Amateur includes men age 65 years or older.

The three-day 54-hole stroke-play competitions begin on Tuesday, June 4, with a first tee time of 8:00 a.m.

The Senior Men’s Amateur will feature a great field of players including three-time defending champion Tom Brandes of Bellevue who is looking for his sixth victory in eight years after winning previously in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The Super Senior Championship field features past champions John Gallacher (2017) of Burnaby, B.C.; Tom Kubisa (2016) of Bremerton, Wash.; and Tom Phillips of Scottsdale, Ariz., who won the Senior Men’s title in 2008 and is now competing in the Super Senior championship. Also in the field is Scott Masingill of Payette, Idaho, who was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame in 2003.

Past champions of the Senior Men’s Amateur include many members of the Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame, including Carl Jonson, Kent Myers, Dr. John Harbottle, George Holland, Ken Forster and Erv Parent. Defending champion Brandes was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Pacific Northwest Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateur championships are two of 15 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.

The PNGA was founded on February 4, 1899. It is a 501c3 charitable, international, amateur golf association dedicated to preserving the true spirit of golf by supporting its allied associations, conducting quality championships, and promoting activities beneficial to golfers in the Pacific Northwest. For more than a century, the Association has been a pioneer in developing competitions and services and its mission has grown and evolved. Today, the PNGA remains committed to being a truly regional organization providing benefits and services to its members and member clubs throughout the Northwest.
