PNGA Team Championships Being Held at Gold Mountain GC

The 36th Pacific Northwest Men’s and Women’s Senior Team Championships and the 3rd Men’s and Women’s Super Senior Team Championships are being held this week at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. The championships will be held consecutively on Gold Mountain’s Cascade and Olympic courses, with the Women’s being held September 17-19 and the Men’s being held September 19-21.

All four championships consist of two-person teams, and all will be contested over 54 holes. The first and third round of each championship will be Four-Ball stroke play, while the second round for each championship will be in the Chapman format. Entrants in the Senior championships must be 50 years of age or older prior to start of play in the first round, and 65 years of age for the Super Senior championships.

The championships are being conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA).

The team of Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. and Craig Larson of Tacoma, Wash. won the Men’s Senior Team title last year, successfully defending their title; while John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. and Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. won the Men’s Super Senior Team title. Both teams are in the field this year, trying to defend their titles.

In last year’s Women’s Senior Team, the pairing of Ginny Burkey and Leilani Norman, both of Eugene, Ore., took the title, while the team of Mary Ryan of Renton, Wash. and Sun Douthit of Steilacoom, Wash. won the Women’s Super Senior title. Both teams will be trying to defend their titles this year, with Ryan and Douthit trying for their third title in a row.
