Futures So Bright Northwest students receive Evans Scholarships Fifteen young students from around the region who have spent a portion of the past two years working as a caddie will be attending college in the fall on an Evans Scholarship. At two separate meetings this spring, nominees were awarded the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarships, a full tuition and housing college scholarship. Evans Scholars are golf caddies who were selected based on four criteria: caddie record, academics, financial need and leadership and character. The scholarship is valued at an estimated $100,000 for four years. Astor Cup comes to Royal Colwood Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. will host the 2019 Astor Trophy on August 28- September 1. The Astor Trophy is a women’s team match between amateur golfers from Great Britain and Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Each country will be represented by four women players. The competition has been played every four years since 1959, and until 2007 it was called the Commonwealth Trophy. The Astor Trophy had previously been held in B.C. in 1999, when Vancouver’s Marine Drive GC was the venue. In 2013, Royal Colwood hosted the Canadian Men’s Amateur.
