Here are their stories and things to watch out for in the coming days.JUSTIN ANDERSONIn junior golf, the 2024 Junior Americas Cup was played at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah, on July 29-31. This annual event is both a team and individual 54-holeWheaton Ennis of Eagle finished third at the competition that showcases some of the best junior players in the Western Unitedprestigious Pacific Coast Amateur, just two shots States, Canada and Mexico. Leading the way for Team Idaho was 16-year-old Justin Anderson from Idaho Falls, who placed eighth overall in the 72-player field. Anderson showed poise on a difficult golf course, where he putted well all three days and carded a final round 4-under 68 that was punctuated by a long birdie putt on his final hole. All four players (Justin Anderson, Beau Sahr, Cameron Kuchar and Reid Hoppock) also competed for Team Idaho at the 55th Eddie Hogan Cup hosted by Riverside Golf and Country Club in Portland in mid-August. NATE SMITHNate Smith of Tetonia is quickly becoming a well-known name in golf throughout our state. While Smith is a newcomer to Idaho, he has made a quick impression on other competitors across the region and nationally with his perfect record (6-0) in matches at the 2024 PNGA Lamey Cup, as well as his finish in the 2023 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, making it to the round of 16. Smith recently qualified again for the U.S. Mid-Amateur, which will take place in September.
