Already leading the field by seven strokes at the start of the final round, Sias and Nelson combined for another solid round of 3-over par 74 to finished nine strokes ahead of second-place finishers Mary O’Donnell of Bellevue, Wash. and Carol Dick of Lakewood, Wash. Finishing third, one stroke behind O’Donnell and Dick, was the team of Cece Patterson and Mary Jensen, both of Bend, Ore.

“We do play a lot of team golf together,” said Sias. “We just try to play the best we can. We’re scramblers.”

“We were a big ham-and-egg team this week. And we never give up. That’s our strategy,” added Nelson, with a laugh. Watch their interview here.

The championship consisted of two-person teams competing in gross and net divisions, and was held on Sunriver Resort’s Woodlands and Meadows courses. A different format was played on each day – Four-Ball, Chapman, and Four-Ball.

The Pacific Northwest Women’s Senior Team Championship is one of 16 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
