Swann advances to Quarterfinals at U.S. Women’s Amateur

Kennedy Swann of McKenzie Bridge, Ore. advanced to the quarterfinals at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, being held this week at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.

Ellie Slama of Salem, Ore. won her match in the round of 32 this morning but fell in the round of 16 to Alyaa Abdulghany of Malaysia.

Swann, in her first appearance in the championship, defeated No. 55 seed Bohyun Park of the Republic of Korea 2 and 1 in the Round of 32. She then defeated No. 39 seed Isabella Fierro of Mexico 2 and 1 in the Round of 16 to punch her ticket to the Quarterfinals tomorrow.

Swann will face no. 2 seed Valery Plata of Colombia in tomorrow’s Quarterfinals, teeing off at 4:20 a.m. PDT.
