b'Nguyen and Evans capture titles at44th WJGA State ChampionshipLAURYN NGUYEN of Seattle fired a final round 4-under par 68 to win the 44th Annual Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA) State Girls Championship, while ETHAN EVANS of Mercer Island shot a final round even-par 71 to capture the State Boys Championship.The final round of the three-day stroke-play championships was held concurrently at Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Wash. Nguyens three-day total of 14-under par 202 gave her an eight-shot victory over second-place finisher Montgomery Ferreira of Tacoma. This is Nguyens second WJGA Girls overall state title, also winning the championship in 2017. On the boys side, Evans shot a three-day total of 8-under par 206. In the final round he eagled the par-5 14th hole to take control of the championship, building a three-shot lead and cruised to the clubhouse to win by three shots. In all, 258 boys and girls competed over three days at three host courses to determine boys and girls state champions in age divisions of 8-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18.
