b'BRITISH COLUMBIA GOLFand hand-carved, and massive greens roll naturally with the terrain. And this really isnt surprising given his work with, most recently, Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw (Cabot St. Lucia, Cabot Cliffs) and Rod Whitman (The Algonquin). Dormer has been an associate with Coore & Crenshaw for the past 10 years. Hes currently working on another solo design project in Nebraska and finishing up an ultra-private Coore & Crenshaw course in the Bahamas. I dont know how many chances Ill get, said Dormer recently. My goal was to create the best holes possible for Purcell in Kimberley. Fun, strategic holes that will stand the test of time. Its an incredible site and its a project close to my heart because its just minutes from my home. Im really pleased with how its taking shape. Its been a long process there and I can hardly wait to see it all come to fruition.Incidentally, its that long process (the project began in 2020) that seems to be pushing many people to ask the obvious: when isThe finishing hole at Purcell. everything going to be finished? The short answer? They dont know. The final location for the clubhouse, which has yet to be determined, is going to dictate the final routing. And, of course, that will also determine which holes on the front nine will be taken out to create the final 18. So really the entire project, which also includes plans for a new private sports school, is still a work in progress. But, regardless of how it all plays out, Purcell Golf Club could be the poster child for what British Columbias awesome mountain golf genre is all about. Spend a few minutes at The Perch and youll see why.NORTH BELLINGHAMGOLF COURSEFor Tee Time Reservations Please Call:(360) 398-8300(Outside Whatcom County)1-888-322-NBGC205 W.
