PNGA Senior, Super Senior Women’s Amateurs being held at Fairwood

Renton, Wash. – The 37th Pacific Northwest Senior Women’s and 15th Super Senior Women’s Amateur championships are being held concurrently this week, Sept. 8-10, at Fairwood Golf & Country Club in Renton, Wash. 

Both championships will be held over 54 holes of stroke play. There are 48 players in the senior field, and 24 in the super senior field. 

Championship Links: 

Fairwood most recently hosted the PNGA Senior Women’s Am in 1988 and will host super seniors for the first time this year. An oft-visited Western Washington destination, Fairwood has also been the site of both the PNGA Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur (2003, 2017), as well as the Junior Boys’ (1992) and Girls’ (2009) championships. In WA Golf competition, the course was the venue of the Men’s (1971) and Women’s (2021) championships. 

Fairwood’s layout is largely tree-lined. The design is credited to Bill Teufel, a renowned West Coast architect whose portfolio also includes Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club, Useless Bay Golf and Country Club, Colockum Ridge Golf Course and others across the Northwest.  

Players to watch in the Senior division include: 

  • Sarah Gallagher (Canton, Ga.) – 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur champion. Three straight GSGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year awards. Won 2026 Georgia Senior Women’s Match Play championship. 
  • Kimberly Hulst (Sammamish, Wash.) – Won 2026 Washington Senior Women’s Amateur. Qualified for 2026 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.
  • Tina Papatolis (Issaquah, Wash.) – Making debut in PNGA Senior Women’s Amateur. Won 2019, 2025, 2026 Washington Women’s Mid-Amateur. T2 in 2026 Washington Senior Women’s Amateur. Won 2026 Washington Women’s Four-Ball. 
  • Kim Titus (Fox Island, Wash.) – 2025 Washington Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, T2 in 2026 championship. Six total wins in Washington Women’s Four-Ball. 
  • Rosie Cook (Redmond, Ore.) – 2020, 2024 PNGA Senior Women’s Amateur champion. 
  • Leslie Folsom (Tukwila, Wash.) – 2019 PNGA Senior Women’s Amateur Champion. 2018, 2020 Women’s Senior Amateur Champion; won 2025 Washington Senior Women’s Champion of Champions and the 2025 SWGA Championship. 

Super Senior players to watch include: 

  • Karen Darrington (Boise) – 21 total titles in Idaho competition. Nine Idaho Senior Women’s Amateur titles. Inducted into Idaho Golf Hall of Fame in 2024.  
  • Penny Gibbons (Vancouver, Wash.) – 2024, 2025 PNGA Super Senior Women’s Amateur Champion. 
  • Marcia Fisher (Molalla, Ore.) – 2021, 2022 PNGA Super Senior Women’s Am champion. Inducted into PNGA Hall of Fame in 2007.  
  • Leilani Norman (Eugene, Ore.) – 2015 PNGA Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, three total PNGA titles. 2015 PNGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year. 

The championships are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
