Round of 32 matches set at PNGA Men’s Amateur

The field of players at the 117th Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship, being held this week at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash., has been narrowed to 32.

The Rounds of 32 and 16 will be held Thursday, July 12, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday, and the championship match on Saturday, July 14. Each match will be contested over 18 holes, with the exception of the final match, which will be played over 36 holes.

  • (23) Derek Bayley – runner-up at the 2017 PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship.
  • (7) Reid Hatley – PNGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year (2015-17).
  • (63) Spencer Tibbits – 2016 PNGA Junior Boys’ Player of the Year.

Match of the day: (4) Sam Tidd of Meridian, Idaho and (61) Philip Kennedy of Eagle, Idaho took their match to a playoff before Tidd was able to put the match away on the third playoff hole. A group of fellow championship competitors from Idaho walked along with the duo.

The Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship is one of 15 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.

The PNGA was founded on February 4, 1899. It is a 501c3 charitable, international, amateur golf association dedicated to preserving the true spirit of golf by supporting its allied associations, conducting quality championships, and promoting activities beneficial to golfers in the Pacific Northwest.
