2014 PNGA Senior Men’s and Super Senior Men’s Championship Round 2 Recap
Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte, Oregon hosted the second round of the 50th Pacific Northwest Golf Association Senior Men’s Amateur Championship and 5th Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship today. The 54-hole event concludes on Thursday, June 5th.
In the second round of the Senior Men’s Amateur Championship, Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Wash. posted a two-under-par 70 to take a one -stroke lead over the field heading into the final day of the Championship. Brandes is the two-time defending champion, seeking his third-straight victory in the event.
Michael Kloenne of West Linn, Oregon jumped into a tie for second place after shooting four-under-par 68 on Wednesday. He and Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale, Calif. are one stroke behind Brandes going into the final 18 holes of the Championship on Thursday.
Carey Watson of Sunriver, Oregon is two-back alone in fourth place, and Harry Ferguson of Invermere, B.C., who recorded a round-low score of five-under-par 67 rounds out fifth place, three strokes off the lead.
In the Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship, Chris Maletis of Portland, Oregon increased his first-day lead to four strokes after posting a second-round score of two-under-par 70.
Gay Davis of Portland, Oregon crept into second place alone after recording a one-under-par 71 on Wednesday, leaving him four shots behind Maletis.
Ted King of Bellingham, Wash. and Stein Swenson of Bend, Oregon share third place, ten shots off of Maletis’ lead.
Round Three of the 2014 Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championships gets underway tomorrow, June 5th at 7:30 a.m.
