The strong field this year includes several past champions. The team of Jackie Nelson of Hillsboro, Ore. and Mary Sias of Portland are back to defend their title, having completed a wire-to-wire victory last year when the championship was held at Sunriver Resort.

Also competing this year are past champions Rachel Whittington of Lake Oswego, Ore. and Nancy Eglin of Yakima, Wash. (2007), and Nettie Morrison and Nancy Breitenstein (1999), both of Bend, Ore.

Teaming up this year are Lisa Smego of Olympia, Wash. and Ginny Burkey of Fircrest, Wash. Smego won this championship in 2012 when she teamed with Karen Brannon of Redmond, Wash.; while Burkey won four consecutive titles (2008-11) when she paired with Loree McKay of Portland.

Pat Harrop-Schumacher of Sequim, Wash. has won this championship a record five times – 1991, ’93, ’95, ’96 and ’01 – using different partners. This year, Harrop-Schumacher has teamed with Bonnie Kern of Olympia, Wash.

Players will be coming from all parts of the region – Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, British Columbia and Alberta.

The format of the championship consists of two-person teams competing in gross and net divisions, using a different format on each day – Four-Ball, Chapman, and Four-Ball.

Entrants into this championship must be 50 years of age or older by September 15, 2014.
