A new chapter begins at Pumpkin Ridge
At Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, it is and always has been all about golf. Lush stands of towering trees frame undulating fairways and manicured greens of the club’s two 18-hole championship layouts, creating a stunning tapestry for respite, relaxation, and adventure. And, both courses lend themselves to walking, allowing players to enjoy the golf courses the way they were meant to be played – for the enjoyment of nature and the love of the game.
Designed by Robert Cupp, the complex is carved over and through fertile farmlands in the rolling foothills of the Tualatin Mountains, and to this day you will see few homes lining the fairways of the public Ghost Creek course and the private Witch Hollow course.
Built to host major events, Pumpkin Ridge set its sights high from the beginning and remains one of the purest golf experiences in the Pacific Northwest. For this reason, and to return big-time men’s professional golf to the Pacific Northwest for the first time since 2015, LIV Golf chose Pumpkin Ridge to host its first event in the U.S. in July of 2022.
But long before LIV, Pumpkin’s legacy of hosting golf events on the national stage was well-established, considering the Nike Tour Championships, the LPGA’s Safeway Classic, the Korn Ferry Tour’s WinCo Foods Portland Open; and the six USGA championships, which included the 1997 and 2003 U.S. Women’s Opens. And, as everyone knows, in 1996 Tiger Woods launched his career at Pumpkin Ridge, winning his third straight U.S. Amateur Championship by defeating Steve Scott on the 38th hole of the championship match on the Witch Hollow course.
Continuing to build on that foundation, the club has recently completed an extensive capital project campaign that has touched all aspects. Work comprised total renovations of the interiors and exteriors of both the Witch Hollow and Ghost Creek clubhouses – new paint, furniture, fixtures throughout, truly elevating both the member and guest experience to a new level.
Even with beautifully renovated facilities, there is little to distract golf purists from pursuing their love of the game at Pumpkin Ridge. The club offers a vast array of playing opportunities, whether that be an individual round, local loyalty program Pumpkin Pass, Ghost Creek Membership or Full Golf and Young Executive Membership at Witch Hollow.
A Pumpkin Ridge membership, with its outstanding privileges and amenities that are just as important as the intangible benefits that come with private club membership, affords a deep sense of camaraderie and belonging that is hard to find elsewhere in Pacific Northwest golf.
