Bandon Dunes – The purest golf experience within reach

A trip to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort has long been a rite of passage for Pacific Northwest golfers. The resort’s seven links golf courses, rugged terrain, stunning coastal setting, and firm-and-fast fescues make for a golf experience impossible to forget.

But as Bandon Dunes’ appeal has grown, so too has the challenge of booking a resort stay for the exact days you hoped. The new drawing system has created an equitable path to booking — but it means that sometimes your preferred dates or lodging options don’t always come through.

The good news: Bandon is still very much within reach. And for Pacific Northwest golfers, the options are plentiful.

More than one way to play

Bandon Dunes has always offered more ways to visit than just staying on property. In reality, with five 18-hole layouts and two of the best short courses in the game, Bandon Dunes has more available tee times than the resort’s lodging is designed for.

So, even if on-property lodging is limited, Bandon Dunes offers plenty of options:

  • Day trips and nearby stays: Contrary to some misperceptions, tee times are indeed open to those staying off property. And the Southern Oregon Coast is home to a wide range of accommodations within a short drive.
  • Know the booking process: Cancellations happen regularly, and golfers willing to stay nearby can continue monitoring for openings throughout the year. Day guests can also book golf-only tee times a year in advance at the premium day rate, creating another path to experiencing the resort even without on-property lodging.
  • Summer is within reach: Long summer days create more opportunity on the tee sheet, stretching available playing windows well into the evening. With a little creativity and flexibility golfers can often find opportunities to experience Bandon Dunes during peak season.
  • Shoulder-season access: Shorter days mean fewer tee times, but often the offseason produces summer-like conditions. Another bonus: The off-property booking window for the offseason shortens to 21 days, so even late planners have a shot.

The experience defines the journey

The links game offers a rhythm all its own. It’s a style that rewards imagination. Caddies remain a central part of that experience, guiding players across firm fairways and rugged dunes in a tradition that dates back centuries.

Golfers return again and again for the feeling that only comes from links golf. A late-afternoon round along the Pacific. A second loop as the wind shifts. A spontaneous match at the Punchbowl or a day-ending round at The Preserve.

The itinerary is yours to shape.

A different kind of golf trip

For veteran Bandonistas, alternatives are part of the allure. Some of the most memorable trips come from mixing and matching rounds and embracing the unpredictability that makes links golf so compelling.

For those who master the booking process and build in some flexibility, the opportunity to experience one of the world’s great golf destinations is always at hand.

No matter how a golfer gets there, Bandon has always been about something simple. Walk the fairways. Embrace the conditions. Tap into your imagination.

Play the game the way it was meant to be.
