BC’s Chris Crisologo wins South American Amateur Open

Chris Crisologo of Richmond, B.C. won the title in the XIII South American Amateur Open, which opened the calendar of the South American Golf Federation and held at Martindale Country Club in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The South American Amateur Open was supported by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club and brought together players representing 25 countries for second consecutive year.

Crisologo shot 275 (-13), becoming the first male Canadian to win the event. Previously, Brooke Henderson of Ontario had won the event’s women’s title in 2013.

Crisologo is in his senior season at Simon Fraser University in B.C. Last year at SFU, he had seven top-10 finishes and was named the GNAC Player of the Year and selected to the All-Conference First Team. He made it to the sectional qualifier for last year’s U.S. Open, and also was a medalist qualifier for the 2017 U.S. Amateur. He is a member of the Canadian National Team.
