Craig Larson Earns Medalist Honors at 41st PNGA Men’s Master-40
Craig Larson (Tacoma, WA) is in the lead after the first day of the PNGA Men’s Master 40 Amateur Championship being held at Bear Mountain Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. Larson shot a round of even par (70) that included four birdies, and a final nine at one-under par to earn stroke play medalist honors. He will lead the championship flight field of thirty-two players into the match-play portion of the event over the next three days.
Larson’s honors did not come easily as there were five other players within four shots. Sandy Harper (Nanaimo, BC) came up just one shot short of Larson shooting a one-over (71), including three birdies, to secure the second seed going into match play. Norm Bradley (Kelowna, BC) played a consistent round of three-over (73) to finish in third after the round of stroke play. Paul Houvener (Mill Creek, WA), Travis Eggers (Fort St. John, BC), and defending champion Erik Hanson (Kirkland, WA) all shot rounds of four-over (74) to finish tied for the fourth position going into the final three days of the event.
The Round of 32 begins at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow and continues in the afternoon with the Round of 16 beginning at 12:30 p.m. Follow the action live on twitter using the hasthtag #PNGAMensMaster40 and interacting with us at @PNGALIVE
