Dana Christianson and Brooks Lancaster to Square Off in Master-40 Final

The Quarterfinal Matches in the 41st PNGA Men’s Master 40 Amateur Championship took place early this morning on the Mountain Course at Bear Mountain Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia.  The first match of the day produced an upset when Dana Christianson (Tacoma, WA) took down the Stroke Play Medalist, Craig Larson (Tacoma, WA), 3&2 to move on.  Defending champion, Erik Hanson (Kirkland, WA) also advanced to the Semifinal Round with a 3&2 victory.  Past champion Paul Houvener (Mill Creek, WA) prevailed in his match with a 2&1 win.  Brooks Lancaster (Kaleden, B.C.) needed 19 holes to secure a victory in his match to become the fourth and final member to move on to the Semifinal Round.

Erik Hanson and Dana Christianson squared off in the first Semifinal Match.  Both competitors played well making at least three birdies each, but Christianson completed one of the best rounds of the championship shooting four-under on his way to a 3&2 victory.  The second of the Semifinal Matches featured Brooks Lancaster and Paul Houvener.  Lancaster got off to a great start birding two of his first three holes.  He was three up at one point, but Houvener battled his was back to square the match before losing the final hole when he conceded a birdie putt to Lancaster after finding bunker and hazard trouble on his way to the green.

The eighteen-hole championship match between Brooks Lancaster and Dana Christianson will take place tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.  Live hole by hole scoring will be available online at www.thepnga.org.
