The 32nd Pacific Northwest Men’s Senior Team Championship began on Wednesday, September 17th, and will run through Friday, September 19th at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The championship is conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA).
The championship will consist of 54 holes of stroke play, with two-person teams competing in gross and net divisions. Play will be contested on two courses at Sunriver Resort, Round One was played on the Woodlands Course and Rounds Two and Three on the Meadows Course, using a different format on each day – Four-Ball, Chapman, and Four-Ball.
Thursday’s format was Chapman at Sunriver’s Meadows Course. Don Orrell of Bend, Ore., and Charles Griswold of Bend, Ore., made three birdies on their way to a score of one-under-par 70. Their score matched the low round of the day. In Wednesday’s Four Ball on the Woodlands Course Griswold and Orrell combined to post a score of six-under-par 66. Orrell made his mark on the round with an eagle on the par-5 No. 6.
Orrell and Griswold are seven under par with one more round of Four-Ball to play on Thursday.
In Round One, Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. and John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. lead the field after combining for a seven-under-par 65 at the Woodlands Course.
