Hanson Medals in Qualifying for Master-40 Amateur; Match Play Bracket Set
After today’s 18-hole qualifying round, the match-play bracket is set for the 42nd Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur Championship, being held this week at Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton, Wash.
Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. fired a 2-under 70 to earn the No. 1 seed going into tomorrow’s match play. He was the only player in the field to break par on the 6,590-yard layout.
Hanson is a three-time champion of the Master-40, having won in 2007, 2010 and 2015. He was named the 2016 WSGA Senior Men’s Player of the Year.

Dana Christianson of Tacoma is looking to defend his title in this championship. He blistered the front nine today, making the turn at 4-under par, but struggled on the back side, finishing 1-over for the day.
The Round of 32 and Round of 16 in the championship flight will take place on Wednesday, June 28. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Thursday followed by the final match of 18 holes on Friday, June 30. All matches are played at scratch.
