Jonasson to retire as CEO/Executive Director of British Columbia Golf
British Columbia Golf has announced that Kris Jonasson, long time CEO and Executive Director, plans to retire effective December 31, 2025.
Kris joined the association in 1996 as executive director and over the intervening years has been a steady and calming influence while guiding the organization’s growth. Some of Kris’ numerous accomplishments include managing the merger between the BC men’s and women’s associations, developing a highly competent staff, launching new championships, and acquiring the association’s own headquarters.
Prior to joining the association, he spent five years as a tournament official with the Canadian Professional Tour, in addition to being treasurer of the Allied Golf Association of British Columbia.
“I am indeed fortunate to have stumbled into a career that I have thoroughly enjoyed,” said Jonasson. “Timing allowed me to be in the right place, at the right time as the sport evolved. I have enjoyed every minute and have been blessed to have developed very close relationships with many friends within the sector.”
Kris works directly with BC Golf’s staff and board of directors, Golf Canada, the PNGA, and Allied Golf Associations. He also represents the sport with BC Sport, Government and their funding agency ViaSport. In addition, Kris served as president of the International Association of Golf Administrators 2007, where he also served on many committees. He has also served on several committees with Golf Canada and the PNGA where he currently serves as a member of the board.
“Kris has dedicated much of his professional career to the sport of golf,” said Shauna Wilton, president of British Columbia Golf. “His leadership has been instrumental in helping steer the organization as the sport has dealt with various challenges, including the global pandemic. His breadth of knowledge will be difficult to replace, but we are fortunate he will be available to support the association during this important transition.”
Hiring consultants McLaughlin & Associates have been engaged and will conduct the search for a new CEO. Particulars for the position will be posted on the britishcolumbiagolf.org website in early 2025.
