Lundy, Bradley Lead PNGA Men’s Senior Team Through One Round
A plethora of low scores defined round one at the 33rd Pacific Northwest Men’s Senior Team Championship, being held at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
The first day of the three-round championship commenced today at Sunriver Resort’s Woodlands Course. Out to an early lead are Lance Lundy of Pemberton, B.C. and Norm Bradley of Kelowna, B.C. at seven-under-par 65.
Today’s opening round was played in the four-ball format. Thursday the Championship heads to the resort’s Meadows Course for the round two Chapman format, and remains at the Meadows Course for the final round of Friday, again being played in the four-ball format.
Lundy and Bradley kept their scorecard clean in round one, recording seven birdies, all without surrendering a single bogey.
In second place alone are Denny Taylor of Gladstone, Ore. and Pat O’Donnell Happy Valley, Ore. They are just a single stoke off the lead at six-under-par 66 and also went bogey-free in the opening round.
Don Orrell of Bend, Ore. and Jason Pigot of Redmond, Ore. combined for six birdies throughout their round, but made bogey on the 17th to remain two stroke behind Lundy and Bradley in third place at five-under-par 67.
Defending champions of this event John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. and Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. are once again in contention after firing a first-round score of four-under-par 68.
In fifth place are Rob Matson of Wenatchee, Wash. and Bill Bradley of Issaquah, Wash. Matson won this Championship in 2012 with then partner Paul Houvener of Mill Creek, Wash. Matson and Bradley finished four behind the leaders with a three-under-par 69 today.
