No. 1 seed falls; Quarterfinal matches set at PNGA Men’s Amateur
Sandpoint, Idaho – The quarterfinal matchups are set at the 119th PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship, hosted this week at The Idaho Club in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Matches in the rounds of 32 and 16 were held today as the region’s best players continue to duke it out under the crisp North Idaho sun.

After defeating Brock Winter of Stillwater, Minn. in 21 holes in this morning’s round of 32 match, No. 1 seed Mateo Fuenmayor of Beaverton, Ore. was ousted in this afternoon’s Round of 16 by Jose Suryadinata of Moscow, Idaho in 19 holes.
Down one on the 14th hole, Fuenmayor fought back to take a one up lead on the 18th hole before dropping the final two holes to Suryadinata. In a battle of the Palouse, the No. 16 seed Suryadinata will face No. 25 seed Preston Bebich of Gig Harbor, Wash. in tomorrow’s first quarterfinal match.
Suryadinata is a rising sophomore on the University of Idaho Men’s Golf Team. Bebich is a rising sophomore on the Washington State University Men’s Golf Team.
In quarterfinal match number two, Blake Wisdom of Lake Geneva, Wis. will face Jordan Lee of Auburn, Wash. The No. 45 seed, Wisdom, is a rising junior on the Bucknell University Men’s Golf Team. Lee, the No. 28 seed, is a rising junior on the Western Washington University Men’s Golf Team.
No. 31 seed Danny Tiscareno of Seattle, Wash. will face No. 7 seed John Sand of Hoquiam in quarterfinal match number three. Tiscareno is a rising sophomore on the USC Men’s Golf Team. Sand will be a graduate student competing for the Denver University Men’s Golf Team in the final.
Quarterfinal match number four will feature No. 30 seed Alfred Raja of Corvallis, Ore. versus No. 6 seed Ben Warian of Stillwater, Minn. Raja is a rising sophomore on the Oregon State University Men’s Golf Team. Warian is a rising sophomore on the University of Minnesota Men’s Golf Team.
The quarterfinal round will be held tomorrow morning beginning at 7:30am, followed by the semifinal round in the afternoon.
The PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship is one of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
