Osprey Meadows announced as host of 2026 PNGA Senior, Super Senior Men’s Championships

Osprey Meadows Golf Course at Tamarack Resort, situated near the town of Donnelly two hours north of Boise, Idaho, will host the 61st PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur and 16th Super Senior Men’s Amateur. The two championships will be held concurrently from Sep. 15-17, 2026.
This marks the first time Osprey Meadows will host any PNGA championship.
The course originally opened in 2006 but closed nine years later. New ownership of Tamarack Resort assumed control in 2021 and undertook a substantial renovation of the golf course that finished in 2024. The course is an original design of Robert Trent Jones II, and it was Jones who also completed the renovation. Jones is behind over 300 golf courses around the world, among them Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., the site of the 2015 U.S. Open.
Given Osprey Meadows’ recent updates, excitement from all parties involved is palpable, with common opinions centered around the exceptional scenery of the area.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to showcase what we believe is one of the best golf courses in Idaho,” said Chris Peterson, Tamarack’s PGA director of golf. “Between the sweeping lake views, open meadows, and mountain backdrops, there are few more beautiful places to experience golf.”
In addition to the two PNGA championships in 2026, the track is also set to host a U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier in June, and the Idaho State Women’s Amateur in July. In 2027, it is set to host the Idaho Men’s Amateur.
Such an itinerary suggests, correctly, a worthy challenge. Peterson says Osprey Meadows can stretch to a length of over 7,500 yards, a feature in keeping with Jones’ other designs. Its slope rating is 142.
“It requires players to think their way around the course, with several holes offering multiple lines of play and risk-reward opportunities,” Peterson said. “Strategy and execution are key here.”
All of it adds up to a linear 18-hole journey that moves high above the north end of Lake Cascade, winds through the meadows and then climbs into a forest, all tenets of Idaho’s natural beauty. Put another way, it’s a prime setting for the region’s strongest senior and super senior men’s players to do battle this fall.
“I’m excited to not only showcase the quality of the course, but also the incredible setting and the growing golf community in this region,” Peterson continued.
The PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur has been held annually since 1965, and the Super Senior since 2010, with both taking 2020 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Going into 2026, Nate Hair will enter as the defending senior champion, while PNGA Hall-of-Famer Pat O’Donnell is the current Super Senior champ.
Previous Senior champions include Paul Hogben (2024), Brian Leff (2023), Erik Hanson (2022), and Tom Brandes (six times since 2012). Recent Super Senior winners include Jim Shaw (2024), Jim McNelis (2023), and Brad Carey (2022).
The championships are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
