Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur – Headed for Match Play

The 36-hole stroke play qualifying portion of the championship was completed today and 32 players advanced to the Championship Flight while the remaining 47 players were seeded into flights of 8 based on qualifying score.

Medalist Honors went to Darren Kuhn of Pocatello, Idaho who posted rounds of 67-72 for a 36-hole total of 5-under par 139. In 2012 Kuhn lost in the final match to Bob Christensen of Post Falls, Idaho at Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Ore.

3 players ended the day tied for 32nd so a sudden death playoff ensued to decide who would be the final seed in the Championship Flight and play against the Medalist in tomorrow’s opening match. After 3 holes in the playoff, Curtis Rystadt (2012 Medalist) of Portland, Ore. outlasted Mike Mannion of Gibsons, B.C. and Mike Seek of Mukilteo, Wash.

Match play will commence tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m.
