Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Recap

The first round of stroke play qualifying is in the books and the pace was set by 2012 Runner-up, Darren Kuhn of Pocatello, Idaho who turned in a score of 5-under par, 67. Kuhn’s round included 7 birdies including holes, 1, 2, 3, 12, 15, 16, 18. Six players out of 83 managed to shoot under par today also including, Steve Rude (69) of Graham, Wash., Kent Brown (71) of Colville, Wash., Bill Winter (71) of Beaverton, Ore., Steve Savage (71) of Surrey, B.C., and Brad Karns (71) of Vancouver, Wash.

The top 32 players after tomorrow’s round will make the Championship Flight of 32 players and the rest of the field will form flights of 8 as we head into match play on Wednesday.

Conditions today started out perfect for the morning groups but the later part of the field had to deal with very strong winds for much of their round.
