RedHawk Recognized by Pacific Northwest Golfer Magazine
Par-5 14th selected as one of the ‘Great Holes of the Northwest’
In the September 2025 issue of Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, the par-5 14th hole at RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho, is recognized as one of the “Great Holes of the Northwest,” one of just four holes selected each year by the Northwest’s largest and longest-running golf publication.
A short par-5, there is opportunity to make up ground here. But the tee shot is over a large pond, and anything pushed to the right will find a creek. A fairway bunker on the left side will catch a lay-up shot short; and there is another bunker further up on the left that is 75 yards from the green and pinches the fairway between another large water hazard on the right leading up to the green. The best option may be to just swing away on the second shot, trying for the green. There are no greenside bunkers, and the bailout area is to the left, where a slope will kick the ball back down toward the putting surface.
RedHawk Golf Course is an 18-hole championship facility overlooking Lake Lowell. The golf course offers panoramic views of the lake and also of the Owyhee Mountains. The Gene Bates-designed course challenges players of all skills levels with its smooth fast greens, rolling undulating fairways, and numerous teeing areas.
Opened in July 2014, RedHawk has quickly earned the reputation as a premier site for championship golf. It has twice hosted the Idaho Junior State Amateur (2014, 2022), four IGA state championships, two high school state championships, the Rocky Mountain Section PGA vs IGA Carter Cup, and several USGA national championship qualifiers, including the U.S. Open qualifier in 2021.
This summer, RedHawk hosted the PNGA Junior Boys’ and Junior Girls’ Championships. It had previously hosted the PNGA Junior Girls’ Amateur in 2015.
