With one 18-hole round of stroke play complete in both championships, two more will follow for each. A hole-by-hole playoff would determine each respective champion if necessary.
Stouffer’s round was back-and-forth, but she still managed an even-par day. A birdie came on her third hole, but three bogeys subsequently came on holes 7, 11 and 13. Rallying, Stouffer didn’t fire another bogey of any kind, but the PNGA Hall-of-Famer birdied holes 15 and 16 en route to her eventual 72.
In addition to her Hall of Fame status, Stouffer won the 2022 and 2023 PNGA Senior Women’s Championships, as well as the previous six BC Women’s Senior Amateur titles.
Jennifer Harper of Sun Valley, Idaho is currently second, two shots back of Stouffer after carding a 2-over 74.
In the Super Senior, Fisher’s round of 81 included a birdie on her third hole. She is in search of her third Super Senior title, having previously won the 2021 and 2022 Championships. She also won the PNGA Women’s Amateur in 1989 and 1991 and, like Stouffer, is a PNGA Hall-of-Famer.
Penny Gibbons of Vancouver, Wash. recorded a 10-over score of 82 and is currently one shot behind Fisher. Gibbons is the defending Super Senior Champion, returning this year to defend her title.
These championships are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and senior conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
