The Ranch Club announced as host of 2027 PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur
Missoula, Mont. – The Ranch Club in Missoula will host the 52nd PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur from August 2-6, 2027. It will follow the 2025 PNGA Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateurs as the championships to be held in Montana since the Montana State Golf Association (MSGA) joined the PNGA in 2024. Previously, the 1913 PNGA Men’s and Women’s Amateurs were held at Butte Country Club, and the 1995 PNGA Junior Boys’ Amateur was held at Yellowstone Country Club in Billings.
The golf course will present a formidable challenge to the players, all of which must be over the age of 40.
“Our current course conditions are the best they have ever been with the implementation of new equipment to care for the fairways, tees, and greens,” said Andrew Flikkema, The Ranch Club’s PGA Head Professional. “We are excited to continue to improve the club, the course, and the experience for our members every year. And with that excitement, we love the opportunity to show off the facility to outside play when available.”
Once known as “Phantom Links,” what is now The Ranch Club opened in 2003 under the design of Canadian architect Les Furber. It adopted its current name in 2007. Carved across the rolling hills of historic ranch land, the layout plays from 4,500 to 7,000 yards. The Ranch Club is a semi-private club that allows limited public and reciprocal play, and its restaurant is fully open to the public. It is a scenic course situated in the Missoula Valley and offers panoramic mountain views. Lakes, hillsides and large greens are also signature features of Furber’s layout.
The Ranch Club has been a frequent destination for MSGA championships, most recently the Montana State Mid-Amateur in 2024. It has also hosted several USGA Qualifiers.
Jack Meehan of Woodinville, Wash. – should he play – will enter the 2027 Men’s Master-40 as the defending champion, having defeated William Snow of Vancouver, Wash. 3 & 2 to win the 51st PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur at Wine Valley Golf Club in 2026. Other past champions include those who have previously represented exceptional regional golf, such as Dr. John Harbottle, Dr. Jack Lamey, Tom Brandes and Erik Hanson, all of whom are inductees of the PNGA Hall of Fame.
The Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur is one of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
