Wong Honored by Sport BC

At the 45th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards ceremony and gala dinner, Christine Wong was named Junior Female Athlete of the Year for her strong performance in 2010. Wong, 19, a native of Richmond, BC, is a member of both Team Canada and the San Diego State women’s golf team. She is the reigning BC Women’s Amateur champion, and also won the Hurricane Invitational during her freshman year at San Diego State. Wong was also the runner-up low amateur at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open and advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2010 Ladies British Amateur Championship.

Also in 2010, Wong was named the PNGA Women’s Player of the Year.

The Sport BC awards ceremony was held February 24 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, BC. This awards ceremony is the longest standing sport recognition event in Canada. Awards in 17 different categories are given each year to athletes, coaches, and officials on their performance and contribution to sport in the province.
