Youth on Course Announces 2026 Scholarship Recipients
Youth on Course – the nonprofit organization providing youth with access to life-changing opportunities through golf – recently announced its scholarship recipients, awarding $365,000 in scholarships to 19 exceptional students as they begin their higher education journeys.
Among the 19 recipients are three from the Pacific Northwest – Nerissa Griffith of Portland, Ore.; Jordyn Lorence of Sherwood, Ore.; and Kameron Marshock of Nampa, Idaho.
Selected from 558 applicants nationwide, this year’s scholars distinguished themselves through academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and perseverance. In all, they represent 11 states across the country, and seven recipients will be first-generation college students, demonstrating the life-changing impact that access and opportunity can have on a young person’s future.
The Youth on Course program allows golfers aged 6-18 to play rounds of golf for just $5 at thousands of participating golf courses and facilities across the U.S. and Canada.
“I am able to now purse my goals in bio-medical engineering without the stress and worry about the costs of education,” said Nerissa Griffith, who will be attending Oregon State University. “This gives me the opportunity to get involved with meaningful experiences, and work toward creating medical devices like prosthetics and pacemakers that can help improve people’s lives.”
Youth on Course College Scholarships help high school seniors take the next step in their educational journey by making higher education more accessible, particularly for students facing financial barriers. Since its inception, the program has supported hundreds of students on their path to college, paving the way for the 40 percent of its scholars who are first-generation college students.
“Without Youth on Course, I don’t think I’d have much of a ‘golf journey,’” said Kameron Marshock, who will be attending the University of Idaho. “It has given me so many opportunities to play golf. My family didn’t have much set aside for me and college, and receiving this scholarship has just opened up so many opportunities.”
A Youth on Course College Scholarship has the potential to transform the lives of members who are high school seniors and might otherwise lack access to higher education opportunities. The basic eligibility requirements are that the young golfer must be an active Youth on Course member, be a senior enrolled full-time in an accredited high school, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of the coming year.
The Youth on Course College Scholarship Committee reviews each online application, and a select group of candidates is contacted to participate in an interview. The committee then does a final review and notifies the chosen recipients each April for the following fall.
