42nd Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur Being Held at Salish Cliffs

The Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur Championship is being held June 27-30 at Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton, Wash. The championship, which is conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA), consists of the top amateur male golfers in the Pacific Northwest over the age of 40.

This year’s championship begins on Tuesday, June 27 with an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round to determine match-play seeding. The top 32 competitors will be seeded and compete in the championship flight for single-elimination match play.

The Round of 32 and Round of 16 in the championship flight will take place on Wednesday, June 28. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Thursday followed by the final match of 18 holes on Friday, June 30. All matches are played at scratch. This year’s field features competitors from Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Alaska and British Columbia.

Returning to defend his title is Dana Christianson of Tacoma, Wash. Other past champions in the field include Erik Hanson (2007, 2010, 2015) of Kirkland, Wash., Nate Hair (2014) of Edwall, Wash., and Paul Houvenor (2003) of Mill Creek, Wash.

The Pacific Northwest Master-40 is one of 15 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
