Trysting Tree Recognized by Pacific Northwest Golfer Magazine
Par-3 17th selected as one of the ‘Great Holes of the Northwest’
In the September 2024 issue of Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, the par-3 17th hole at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. is recognized as one of the “Great Holes of the Northwest,” one of just four holes selected each year by the Northwest’s largest and longest-running golf publication.
With the round nearly finished, this brawny par-3 asks for full attention. The further back the tee markers, the more water that must be carried. And if it is in the afternoon, there will be wind. The clover-shaped green has four distinct quadrants for hole locations, each protected by mounds or one of the two greenside bunkers. The target is small, no matter where the flag is.
Trysting Tree Golf Club is a links inspired golf course along the Willamette River. Opened in 1988, the course was designed by architect Ted Robinson, and is the home of the Oregon State University men’s and women’s golf teams. In 2017, the course opened its new routing featuring three newly created holes by Northwest native and former Oregon State player, Dan Hixson. This project also saw the addition of a new large practice facility for the Oregon State golf program. With five sets of tees the golf course can be played by all skill levels, and hosts many of Oregon’s biggest championships, and in August it was the site of the PNGA Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Championships.
