Ranch Club Recognized by Pacific Northwest Golfer Magazine
Par-4 fifth selected as one of the ‘Great Holes of the Northwest’
In the September 2026 issue of Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, the par-4 fifth hole at The Ranch Club in Missoula, Mont., is recognized as one of the “Great Holes of the Northwest,” one of just four holes selected each year by the Northwest’s largest and longest-running golf publication.
Rated as the most difficult hole on the golf course, this long par 4 requires accuracy off the tee, no matter what club is used. Any shots to the left side will roll through some mounding and generally leave an uphill lie, while three fairway bunkers on the right side are in play from all the tee boxes and would leave a very long bunker shot to reach the green. The narrowest part of the fairway is in the landing zone.
The green is slightly elevated, which requires an accurate second shot to have a good chance at par.
Situated on 343 acres, The Ranch Club offers an 18-hole Les Furber-designed links-style golf course that opened in 2003. Carved across the rolling hills of historic ranch land, the layout plays from 4,500 to 7,000 yards. The Ranch Club is a semi-private club that allows limited public and reciprocal play, and its restaurant is fully open to the public.
The Ranch Club will serve as the venue for the 2027 PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur Championship, to be held August 2-6.
