Nguyen leads Women’s Amateur; Jacobs leads Mid-Amateur after round one of stroke-play qualifying
Gleneden Beach, Ore. – Lauryn Nguyen of Seattle, Wash. leads the 120th PNGA Women’s Amateur Championship after the first-round of stroke-play qualifying; while defending champion Amanda Jacobs of Portland, Ore. leads the 20th PNGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

In the Women’s Amateur, Nguyen fired an opening round 2-under 69 to take a one shot lead over Angela Arora of Surrey, B.C. Nguyen and Arora are the only two players that are under par after round one.
Jacobs opened with a 5-over 76 to lead the Women’s Mid-Amateur by one shot over Gretchen Johnson of Portland, Ore. and Jacqueline Bendrick of Mercer Island, Wash.
Each championship begins with 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying on July 11-12, followed by 18-hole single-elimination match play.
The PNGA Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
