Albertsons Boise Open Presented by Kraft Distributes More than $1 Million to Local Charities

Mike Clawson, Albertsons president, Intermountain West Division, recently announced that the 2010 Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft generated more than $1 million for charity for the fourth straight year. In all, more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Treasure Valley will benefit from the event. The tournament, an annual event on the Nationwide Tour, has now raised more than $11.8 million for charity in its 21-year history, that’s more money generated for charity than by any other Nationwide Tour event.

Albertsons and the tournament identified the event’s 2010 primary beneficiaries through an application process. Primary beneficiaries received $25,000 each. In addition, each year the event provides local non-profit organizations the opportunity to sell tournament tickets and keep 100 percent of their sales revenue through the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program. This year, 100 organizations generated more than $655,000 in ticket sales. Those organizations also shared – based on their percentage of overall sales – in an additional Bonus Pool of $50,000 provided by Albertsons and Sara Lee.

Again this year, the tournament also provided $16,000 to the Idaho Lacrosse Association, $5,000 to the golf program at Boise State University and $5,000 to the First Tee Chapter of Idaho.

The 22nd annual Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft will be held September 12-18, 2011 at Hillcrest Country Club. Tickets are on sale now at www.albertsonsboiseopen.com, and again through the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY program, 100 percent of all ticket sales will go directly to local charities. Non-profit organizations interested in taking part in the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY program or in learning about additional tournament funding opportunities should visit www.albertsonsboiseopen.com/charity.
