Erik Hanson went wire-to-wire to win the Senior Men’s championship, shooting rounds of 72-71-68 for a 211 total, good for a 12 shot victory. He was the only player in the field to shoot even-par or better in all three rounds. Finishing in second place was Craig Larson of Lakewood, Wash., who finished with a total of 223.
“It feels great (to take home the victory),” said Hanson, “I didn’t know what to expect coming into this week, I came close last year and my buddy Tom Brandes beat me on the last hole.”
Hanson largely credited his success this week to a new putting grip. He changed from the claw to a standard elbow-lock grip and was able to roll putts with more confidence.

This is the sixth individual PNGA title for Hanson, his first in the Senior Men’s championship. He is a regular competitor in Washington Golf and PNGA championships and just two weeks ago he and partner Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Wash. won the Washington Senior Men’s Four-Ball.
In the Senior Women’s championship, Stouffer put together rounds of 77-74-73 for a 224 total, cruising to an eight shot victory. Loree McKay of Portland, Ore. finished in second place with a total of 232.
“It feels awesome (to get the win),” said Stouffer. This is my first time playing in the PNGA Senior, and I was really happy to be able to come down here after not being able to the past couple years due to COVID.”

Stouffer is a regular on the B.C. Golf and Golf Canada circuit. She won the 2021 Canadian Senior Women’s Amateur championship and just last week she won her third straight B.C. Senior Women’s Championship. This is the second PNGA title for Stouffer, who won the 2012 PNGA Women’s Mid-Amateur.
Brad Carey shot rounds of 76-75-72 for a total of 223 to win the Super Senior Men’s Amateur. He finished three shots clear of Gary Heselton of Surrey, B.C. and Scott Masingill of Payette, Idaho who finished in a tie for second place.
“It feels great (to get the win),” said Carey. “I hit the ball really well for 54-holes, I didn’t putt that great, but good enough to get it done.”

Carey has been a long-time competitor in Oregon Golf Association and PNGA Championships. This is his first title in a PNGA championship.
In the Super Senior Women’s championship, PNGA Hall of Famer Marcia Fisher successfully defend her title after rounds of 80-80-77 to finish at 237. She finished 12 shots clear of second place finishers Karen Madison of Spokane Valley, Wash., who won this championship in 2015, and Sunny Sue Kim of Bellevue, Wash.
“It feels great (to get the win), and doing it back-to-back is even more exciting and special,” said Fisher. “My driver was happy this week and that was good because I needed that to get to some of the par-4s in two, but my favorite thing was just meeting new golfers and getting to play with new women. We just had a great time.”
