50th PNGA Men’s Master-40 being held at Salish Cliffs

Shelton, Wash. – The 50th PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur Championship is taking place this week, August 4-8, at Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton, Wash.
The championship begins with the field of players playing 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying on August 4-5, followed by a cut to the low 32 players who will advance to single-elimination match play.
The rounds of 32 and 16 will be held on Wednesday, August 6, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals on Thursday, with the championship match on Friday, August 8. Each match will be contested over 18 holes.

In last year’s championship, held at Bar Run Golf & RV Resort in Roseburg, Ore., Rick Corkill of Vancouver, Wash. won his first PNGA title with a 3 & 2 win in the championship match over Garrett Stephens of Carnation, Wash. Corkill is in the field in this year’s championship, attempting to defend his title. Stephens is also in the field, and will attempt to take that final step.
The PNGA Men’s Master-40 was previously held at Salish Cliffs in 2017, won that year by Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. Hanson also won this championship in 2015, 2010, and 2007, and is in the field again this year.
Other past champions in this year’s field include Tom Brandes (2020), Dana Christianson (2016), and Nate Hair (2014).
To be eligible, contestants must be 40 years of age or older by August 4, 2025. Competitors must have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index or Golf Canada Handicap Factor not exceeding 8.4 at the time of entry, and must be a member in good standing of a PNGA Member Association.
The Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur is one of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
