Starting as the No. 7 seed in the match play bracket after two rounds of stroke-play qualifying, Bjorke’s path to victory was relatively smooth. He secured the win in all five matches without any extending beyond the 16th hole.

Today’s final match saw both players trade blows early on. Bjorke took a quick lead with a birdie on the first hole. Garrett fought back, claiming the third and fourth holes to take a brief 1-up lead.

However, Bjorke regained control on the par-3 sixth hole with a birdie, leveling the match. He solidified his advantage by winning the eighth and ninth holes, finishing the front nine with a 2-up lead.

Garrett’s birdie on the 11th hole narrowed the gap, but Bjorke responded strongly, capturing three of the next five holes. The match concluded on the par-5 16th hole with Bjorke’s final birdie, securing his victory with a 4-up lead and two holes to go.

Bjorn Bjorke’s consistent performance and strong showing in the final match earned him the title of the 48th Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur Champion.

This is the first PNGA title for Bjorke who is the General Manager at McCormick Woods Golf Club in Port Orchard, Wash. He is a two-time Washington Men’s Mid-Amateur champion (2013, 2020) and he’s twice won the Washington Men’s Champion of Champions (2009, 2020).

Garrett qualified as the No. 12 seed in the match play bracket. He has been a longtime competitor in WA Golf and PNGA championships and has played in two U.S. Amateur Four-Ball championships (2017, 2019).
