Hodes nabs solo lead at PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur; Bradley expands advantage in Super Senior
Tamarack, Idaho – Kevin Hodes (Redmond, Ore.) shot a 3-under par round of 70 to take the lead of the PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur at a 2-under total, while Norm Bradley (Kelowna, B.C.) shot 2-over 75 and continues to lead the 16th PNGA Super Senior Men’s Amateur at that total.
Both championships are being held concurrently this week, Sept. 15-17, at Osprey Meadows Golf Course at Tamarack (Idaho) Resort.
This week marks the first time Osprey Meadows will host any PNGA Championship. Conditions Tuesday were mostly sunny with temperatures in the 60s.

In the Senior division, Hodes had an adventurous day with a strong finish. He had three birdies and bogeys through his opening seven holes, and soon escaped the front side with an even-par 36. He then delivered a bogey-free back nine, on which he birdied holes 11, 16 and 18 to complete his round of 70, the lowest of any senior or super senior player this week.
Hodes will be in search of his first PNGA title Thursday. He most recently competed in this championship in 2023 and finished in a tie for 18th.
Chris Boquette (Boise, Idaho), the 18-hole leader, is in second behind Hodes at 1-under after a round of 72. Tom Brandes (Bellevue, Wash. +1) is solo third after a 72 of his own, Greg Chianello (Hillsboro, Ore., +3) is fourth and Brian Swenson (Meridian, Idaho, +7) is fifth.
In the Super Senior division, Bradley started his round well, by way of a birdie 4 on the par-5 first, but bogeys on the fourth and fifth brought him to a 1-over total. He eventually made double bogey on the par-3 11th to slip a little further, but he maintained a four-stroke lead by the time he finished the 15th hole, and it eventually grew to five over Jack Schneider (Oregon City, Ore.) by the time Bradley finished his 2-over round.
Bradley is one of the Northwest’s more established senior players. He won the 2024 Washington Super Senior Men’s Amateur and placed in a tie for fifth in last year’s PNGA Super Senior Men’s Am.
Behind Bradley and Schneider in third is Jay Sutton (Meridian, Idaho, +8). Karl Smith (Gig Harbor, Wash.) Bob Johnson (Vacaville, Calif.) are tied for fourth at 10-over.
These championships are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
