Meehan, Snow to contend for 51st PNGA Men’s Master-40 title
Walla Walla, Wash. – Jack Meehan of Woodinville, Wash. and William Snow of Vancouver, Wash. will meet in the final match of the 51st PNGA Men’s Master-40 Amateur. The two players will tee off in their 18-hole championship match at 7:00am on Friday, August 7.

Meehan drew Michael Wog II in this morning’s quarterfinal match. The two traded birdies on holes 1 and 2 and stayed tied until the seventh, a hole that Meehan won. Making the turn 1-up, Meehan slowly took the match out of Wog’s reach with birdies on 12 and 15, before a par on 16 clinched a 4 & 2 win.
Meehan found himself in more of a hole when he faced Reid Hatley (Hayden Lake, Idaho) in the afternoon’s semifinal match. He was 2-down after the third hole but got the better of Hatley after that. Meehan’s wins on 4 and 8 tied the match by the turn, and more wins on 10 and 11 and 15 gave him a 3-up lead with three holes remaining. Hatley birdied 16, but pars from both players on 17 clinched a 2 & 1 victory for Meehan.
Meehan is a member of Bear Creek Country Club in his hometown. He will be in search of his first PNGA win Friday.
Snow faced Jeff Widdows (Yakima, Wash.) in his quarterfinal round and the two golfers competed admirably, matching each other’s score shot-for-shot until the ninth hole, where a birdie from Snow gave him a 1-up lead. Snow subsequently went 2-up on 10 and, despite some challenge from Widdows, eventually claimed a 2 & 1 win.
Snow then had Nate Smith (Tetonia, Idaho) – the defending champion – standing between him and the finals. Despite winning the par-4 fifth hole, Snow was 2-down to Smith at the turn and eventually 3-down after 12. Mounting a rally, Snow won 14 and 15 and eventually was just 1-down on the 18th tee. He found the birdie he needed on that hole while Smith parred, sending the match to extra holes.
On the par-4 first – which Smith was playing for the fourth time in a single day after his quarterfinal match also had gone to extras – Snow carded an authoritative birdie and defeated the former PGA Tour pro. Snow had never led the match until that closing 19th hole.
An established golfer in the Portland, Ore. area, Snow won the 2025 Portland City Championship Open Division. Like Meehan, he has not won a PNGA title and has the chance to change that tomorrow.
To be eligible for the PNGA Men’s Master-40, players must have been 40 years of age or older by August 3, 2026. They also must have had an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index or Golf Canada Handicap Factor not exceeding 8.4 at the time of entry and be a member in good standing of a PNGA Member Association.
The Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur is one of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
